On 8 September 2026, the opening day of the first international scientific conference “Energy Transformation Technologies for Sustainable Future” (ENTRUST) took place at the Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI) in Kaunas. The day was dedicated to celebrating the Institute’s 70th anniversary. Dr Vaidas Liesionis, Chairman of the Board of the FTD LT Cluster, and Algimanta Ščiglinskienė, Cluster Coordinator, attended the event to congratulate the Institute—an FTD LT Cluster member—on this significant milestone and take part in the anniversary programme.
The anniversary event brought together the Institute’s community, researchers, innovators, industry representatives and partners, highlighting LEI’s significant contribution to the advancement of energy research, technological progress and international cooperation in Lithuania.
During the event, the FTD LT Cluster representatives met with Prof. Dr Saulius Gudžius, Director of LEI since 9 August 2024. A Professor and Doctor of Energy and Thermal Engineering, and former Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Kaunas University of Technology, he succeeded Dr Sigitas Rimkevičius, who had led the Institute for two consecutive terms from 2014 to 2024.
Dr Vaidas Liesionis and Algimanta Ščiglinskienė also met with Dr Sigitas Rimkevičius, currently Head of the LEI Laboratory of Nuclear Installation Safety; Monika Inčerytė, International Cooperation Coordinator at LEI; and Dr Rimantas Levinskas, Project Manager at the Research, Development and Innovation Transfer Centre.
During the meetings, representatives of the FTD LT Cluster and LEI discussed the continued expansion of cooperation with the Institute’s researchers, opportunities for new international projects and partnership initiatives, as well as the development of joint research, development and innovation (R&D&I) products. Particular attention was given to closer cooperation between science and industry, which would enable the Institute’s scientific expertise and research results to be applied in the development of practical, advanced and internationally competitive solutions.
The FTD LT Cluster congratulates the entire Lithuanian Energy Institute community on its 70th anniversary and wishes the Institute continued success in advancing energy research, developing innovative technologies and strengthening cooperation between science and industry in Lithuania and internationally.
